Tomás Bril Mascarenhas

Tomás Bril Mascarenhas holds a PhD in political science from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA in political science from the University of Buenos Aires. He specializes in the comparative political economy of development. He is a professor at the National University of San Martín and a visiting professor at Torcuato Di Tella University.

He has been a visiting researcher at the Catholic University of Chile, the State University of Rio de Janeiro, and the University of São Paulo, Brazil. He won a Fulbright scholarship to pursue his PhD, and his research has been financed by the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (Conicet), the University of Buenos Aires Science and Technology Program (UBACyT), Argentina; the Training for Higher Education Personnel Campaign (CAPES), Brazil; and the Tinker Foundation, USA.

He has published op-eds in national and international media and several academic papers in journals such as Studies in Comparative International Development, Desarrollo Económico, and the Journal of Development Studies.

He worked in governance and human development at the United Nations Development Programme and has been a consultant to the Inter-American Development Bank and other local and international organizations.
