Sebastián Etchemendy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Studies at the Torcuato Di Tella University, with tenure since 2011. He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Buenos Aires. He received his PhD from the Department of Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. He specializes in the comparative political economy in Latin America and Western Europe. His main focus is on the determinants and political consequences of the processes of economic liberalization and internationalization, with special attention to the study of business actors, trade unions and the labour market. He was a Fulbright Scholar, Visiting Professor in the Department of Political Science at Stanford University in 2007, and in 2022 he was awarded the Robert F. Kennedy Visiting Professorship at Harvard University. Between 2012 and 2015 he was advisor and then Undersecretary for Labour Policy at the National Ministry of Labour. He published “Models of Economic Liberalization. Business, Workers, and Compensation in Latin America, Spain, and Portugal” (Cambridge University Press 2011).
