María de las Nieves Puglia holds a BA in sociology from Salvador University, where she now teaches, and an MA in social anthropology and a PhD in sociology from the Interdisciplinary School of Higher Social Studies at the National University of San Martín (UNSAM). She has been awarded grants by the International Association for the Study of Sex, Culture, and Society (IASSCS) and the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) for her graduate work. She also received a grant from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to complete her MA thesis in Germany. She worked as Contents Coordinator for the Gender and Sexual Diversity Department at the UNSAM and as Coordinator of Rights Protection at the Department of Gender Policies at Argentina’s Ministry of Security. Her professional interests includes gender mainstreaming in public administration, research, and training. Her research has analyzed the sex and seed markets in Argentina through the economic sociology of contested markets.
