Digital transformation is reshaping how value is created, how decisions are made, and how societies are governed. In this context, data and artificial intelligence are becoming strategic assets for development. Yet across Argentina and Latin America, adoption remains uneven and fragmented—often detached from the concrete priorities of governments, organisations, and citizens. At Fundar, we work to bridge this gap.
We combine applied research, tool development, and institutional capacity building to improve the performance of public and private organisations. We see the transformative potential of data and AI not only in the technology itself, but also in the institutions, rules, skills, and social practices that determine how these tools are used.
The State is central to this agenda. It produces and uses data, sets the rules that shape governance, protects rights, and helps reduce inequality. A State that can manage high-quality data, integrate information systems, and deploy AI ethically is better positioned to design more effective and efficient public policies—and to strengthen its legitimacy. But this shift is not automatic: it requires sustained investment, institutional coordination, and continuous organisational learning.
Data and AI are also critical to strengthening the productive sector—enhancing firm competitiveness, supporting innovation, and building capabilities in strategic industries. For that reason, our work connects governments, companies, civil society organisations, and international partners, combining empirical analysis, pilot initiatives, and the development of national and regional networks.
From a Global South perspective, we promote the responsible use of data and the adoption of AI in ways that advance inclusive and sustainable development.
